PC producers bear extra expenses for components, which in its turn lay down to the PC supply chain. It means less promotions and discounts for customers, for instance bigger HDD (hard disk drive) or extra DRAM (dynamic-RAM). Usually to keep constant price for customers during components shortage PC vendors adjust the configuration of the notebooks. For example, it could be smaller DRAM (dynamic-RAM) memory installed into notebook. This time there are shortages of few key notebook components, so it differs a bit. This year it has come about that notebook computers demand is greater than has been predicted by market analysts. PC producers are trying their best to keep up and satisfy customers’ demand. At the same time, it is hard to cope with components shortage caused by other factors. Almost all notebook producers have LCD panels’ shortage; small-size notebooks producers are troubled also from batteries and HDDs shortages. LCD notebooks supply is insufficient this year due to drastic sales of LCD TV-sets, and small hard disk drives supply have reduced because HDDs are used in notebooks and in majority of digital music players such as iPods for example. Another reason of such serious components shortage is that the notebook industry is in the peak of its busiest period of the year; back-to-school sales herald a season of great customers’ demand for notebooks till the very Christmas. And PC market researchers proclaim that component shortages have stressed the PC producers since April 2009. HP is one of the best PC vendors; the company believes that it won't be affected by any notebook components shortages. Hewlett-Packard Company has long term contracts with suppliers which ensure it from any problems. Big companies such as Hewlett-Packard have little to beware of supply matter because components-suppliers prefer their stable large orders to the infrequent orders given by other companies.
