Have it ever happened to you that on the middle of an important document your laptop died? If so, there are few tips how you can extend battery life and make sure this will not happen to you again: 1. Turn off unused devices. Usually laptops have a switch or some way of turning off their wireless facilities, WiFi and Bluetooth. Disable these because they consume quite a good amount of power. 2. Turn down screen brightness. Most people forget, when using a laptops battery, that the screen drains it very fast. Remember, only by turning brightness down about halfway or little bit more, you increase the battery life by an hour! 3. Unplug unnecessary devices. People use a USB and Bluetooth mouse for example, not realizing that this draws power from the laptop. If increasing of the battery life is essential to you, unplug all external devices that you don't really need. 4. Defragment your hard drive every so often; this will decrease your hard drive activity. Doing this, you are taking away unnecessary files that slow your computer down, thus causing the hard drive to spin more. 5. Any possible way decrease hard drive activity. Be aware when hard drive is running, a little disk inside it spins. It is logical that the more it spins, the more your battery power go down. To decrease hard drive activity, disable start-up items in the taskbar or anything that runs in the background (for instance anti-virus, spyware, etc). 6. Condition the battery. When you unplug the laptop for example for one hour and then plug it back, battery recognizes it and after a while understands this is how long it should work. It is a fact that batteries do have memory. To condition your battery you should accomplish the recharged battery cycle, which means that it is necessary to run the battery completely down. Let it shut off by itself. Then recharge it fully without unplugging. Now you can say that the battery has been conditioned. Without this simple procedure your laptop battery will show significant decrease in the performing life. 7. The last thing you can do to support battery effectiveness is to install more RAM in your computer. Random Access Memory speeds up the system and hard drive does not have too much work to do.
